THE 5-STEP LEARNING PROCESS
Our proprietary 5-Step Learning Process is the key to guiding students to become strategic learners who are independent and successful. Working together with a Strategic Learning Consultant, students progress through the steps of the learning process and build a toolkit of strategies based on their unique needs.
APPLYING "STRATEGIC LEARNING" TO LEARNING
The term "strategic learning" comes from the business world: businesses use the analytical framework of strategic learning to create intentional improvement in their company. At Donovan Strategic Learning, we apply the concept of “strategic learning” to the learning process. Using a metacognitive approach, we teach students to create intentional change for lasting achievement.
OPEN-ENDED QUESTIONING
Open-ended, open-minded questioning and active listening are fundamental to our success. We incorporate counseling techniques into our methodology so that we can fully understand the student’s unique “why" behind any obstacles to learning.
CREATIVE PROBLEM-SOLVING
Once we find the root cause of a challenge, we use creative problem-solving to generate creative solutions. Learning is the ultimate goal, not a particular set of strategies. With our guidance, solutions are often out-of-the-box ideas created by the student, leading to increased motivation, independence, and lasting impact.
